On October 14, 2023 (Saturday), we held the Autumn Grand Festival. This is the most important festival of the autumn season, and once again, the lion dance and taiko drum performances were held grandly. Due to the impact of declining birth rates, there are fewer children, but young volunteers gathered, and the energy of the festival reached its highest point ever. Additionally, this year, a female participant joined the lion dance for the first time! There was a big round of applause as the beautiful lion dance performance earned cheers such as “So cool!” Just as the head priest of Ise Shrine is a woman, there is no rule in Shinto rituals that prohibits women from participating. We hope to see more women participating in the future!
