American couple experiences taiko drumming

Rakudoan, a stay-and-go hotel located near Kuwano Shrine in a beautiful village, is planning activities for its guests to experience playing the “Etchu Isami Taiko” drum. Previously, a guest from Russia visited Kuwano Shrine, and today (April 11), a couple from Chicago, U.S.A., stayed at Rakudoan. The purpose of their stay was to experience taiko drumming. The husband was so impressed by a taiko performance he saw in the U.S. that he came to Toyama to experience taiko during his trip to Japan at Rakudoan at his own request. The couple had been watching the taiko performance from start to finish. I can understand why they were so focused on the taiko player, as everyone is. I was told later by a member of the Rakudoan community that some people were so moved by the performance of the “Etchu Isami Taiko” that they were moved to tears. The taiko, nurtured in the land of Sanjei Village, has the power to captivate not only the Japanese people but also people from all over the world. Thank you to all of you who practice and pass on the tradition of “Etchu Isami Taiko” every day, and thank you for your wonderful taiko performances.
